  • I'd go McCoy, Murray and Spiller. Ridley looked great in week one, but we know how New England tends to be with running backs. I'd rather take the guaranteed touches from Murray, even if it's a tougher matchup.

Yeah, this one really turned around, huh? I still like Freeman this season, especially with his schedule, but it seems like the Ravens were actually serious about opening up the offense for Flacco this year.

Agree with what everyone else has said. Hill is a nice pickup, but not worth dropping any of those guys. Nice receiving corps, by the way.

  • Dan Croop replied to the topic Re: Pick up Nate Washington or Kendall Wright? in the forum.
I'm assuming that since you mentioned needing receiver depth, this isn't just a one week thing. It's close. Wright's ceiling is certainly higher, and he has more big play upside. Washington is probably the safer choice, though.

Is your league PPR? That would probably sway me towards Washington.

If not, I think it depends on your FF philosophy. How do you approach your bench spots? Do you prefer risk/reward guys who could hit the lottery and blow up or do nothing at all? Or would you rather have safer guys who can be relied upon to put up consistent numbers?

For me, if it's the former, then go Wright. If it's the latter, go Washington.

  • Dan Croop replied to the topic Re: Last in draw for draft need help in the forum.
Don't forget to check your league settings. Is it PPR (point per reception)? How many points per passing TD (usually 4 or 6)? These things matter when it comes to who's on the board at pick 12.

I agree with the viewpoint of having 2 of the first 13 picks in the draft. There's a lot of good talent there. You might get lucky with one of the big three QBs (Rodgers, Brady, Brees) falling to you, but it's doubtful.

It also wouldn't be the worst strategy to go RB-RB in a year with so few clear-cut #1 RB options. Maybe McFadden and Forte or Charles, if possible? I doubt Johnson will still be there, and I'm a little worried about Lynch given that he hasn't played all preseason due to back spasms, and he also has a decision from Goodell from a DUI waiting for him that could result in suspension.

Watched him last night. He looks like he has the burst back, but I think a lot of it depends on Jake Locker. He'll never get into a rhythm unless Locker shows opposing defenses they need to back off the line. If I had to put numbers on him, maybe 1,600 total yards and 8 total TDs.

Foster, Rice, McCoy. I'd be worried about the Philly offense. I just get the sense that half the season will be started by Nick Foles or Mike Kafka, meaning half the season will have opposing defenses lining up eight in the box to stop McCoy.

  • Dan Croop replied to the topic Re: Ahmad Bradshaw in the forum.
He's dropping more and more in my eyes. His foot injury history is scary enough, and last week's preseason game he left with one hand wrapped and the other in a cast.

David Wilson has been sharing first-team reps with him and excelling. I think Bradshaw will start the season with the bulk of the workload, and Wilson should be getting more each week.

The highest I'm drafting Bradshaw would be in the 70-80 range.

  • Dan Croop replied to the topic Re: Flacco for Freeman? in the forum.
Agree with you guys. That's the advice I gave somebody the other day, but we had a little debate about it. I believe more in the 2010 Freeman than the 2011 Freeman, and with more weapons this year, he can only get better.

I like what you said, Kevin. Flacco is what he is. A decent, above-average quarterback who is close to his ceiling. Freeman's potential definitely outweighs Flacco's.

A couple flying under the radar...

New Orleans - Graham, Colston, Henderson, Moore, and don't forget Sproles, who they use more as a receiver than a RB.

Pittsburgh - Wallace, Brown, Miller, Cotchery, and Sanders.

Tennessee (underrated) - Britt, Washington, Cook, and Wright.

  • Dan Croop replied to the topic Re: Expectations for Vincent Jackson in the forum.
I don't like the Eli and Cruz comparison because Tampa doesn't have a Hakeem Nicks. I do think he'll be a little better than his standard 60+, 1000+, 9 TDs. Maybe more like 75, 1200/1300, 8 or 9 TDs.

Agreed that it's the Patriots right now. Their depth is unbelievable. Did we forget about the Packers? Jennings, Nelson, Finley, Cobb (sleeper!), and Driver.

By the end of this year? Might be Denver if Manning is in true form. Thomas, Decker, Stokley, Tamme. He can make those guys look better than they are.

Ugly situation in Arizona, especially at QB. I'd go Roberts now if I had to have one, but I'd probably try avoiding them both.

  • Dan Croop replied to the topic Re: 20-team league strategy in the forum.
Kevin described what my strategy pretty much is. If the first 14 picks go QB heavy, I'm fine getting one of the top RBs (if possible). If it's RB heavy, I'll take a top QB. If it's a mix, maybe I'll grab Graham or Gronk so I know I have the advantage at TE. I'm just looking to get a top-tier player at one position to give myself an advantage over almost all the teams in the league at that position. If possible, maybe I can do the same thing 10 picks later.

What I'm worried about will be the wait from pick 25 to pick 55. That's a huge dropoff in talent between 30 picks. At 25, the last of the top tier players are coming off the board. At 55, we'll be drafting mid-range guys. I think I'd be happy with something like Stafford, Sproles (.5 PPR!), V. Jackson, and Hillis for my first 4 picks.
